The 'Less Old' Royal Walk

Wandering down the Royal Walk, there are still plenty of recreated old facades, mixed with the University crowd, public gardens and art. Fresh flowers are sold on the corners - how they survive between hot house and homes, sitting in the wind... With the snow forcast one of the palaces had put theior floral displays under plastic to protect them. Not sure how well that works...

Had to grin as I watched the changing of the guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. These young soldiers were trying so hard to keep straight faces as they went through their paces but with everyone taking pictures, they would look at each other and first their eyes would twinkle, then the corners of their mouths curl, then you'd see them straighten up and get serious.

Popped into a recommended bar/restaurant to thraw out and dry out and had the most amazing cheese experience. A little bit of decadance on my trek. But apart from the dining experience (see next post) I got chatting to the waitress and it turned out she was an Indian Fijian who had been in Poland 3 years with her family (she looked about 18). She got how cold I was feeling and was so happy to see someone from 'home' - her words. Lovely girl and I left there on a high. Warm of fingers and warm of heart :)

As I left Sense the weather must have sensed my energy because the SUN CAME OUT!! As I walked to the train station to buy a ticket to Krakow the clouds parted, there was a pale blue sky and sunshine for about 20 minutes. How it lifts the spirits... Managed to get a pic of the Palace of Culture and Science with the sun on it.. A real comparison to the one I took on the day of arrival, all foggy and Gotham City like.
