Numb bum and tired eyes...

Well, back into the swing of long haul travel again. I'm alive and well. Left home 5am Thurs 9/10. Got to my Hostel in London 11.30am Fri 10/10. 40 hours of travelling/waiting/etc. The pack is only 14kg but was feeling it by the time I found the hostel today. Got a bum stear from the guy at Heathrow tube and went to the wrong station. 2hours of wandering around and direction asking later, I found it. But not in a hurry and interesting to get into the feel of the city again. Found the British Museum and London Uni in my wanderings.

Etihad have very nice planes and I can sleep anywhere, but... I could kill the guy I sat next to from BNE to Abu Dabi. Old Irish bloke who had bad breath and very small personal space and TALKED for 16 hours. I tried to watch movies with the headphones on and he interupted. I tried to read and he interupted. I tried facing the window with my back to him and he talked anyway. I tried to sleep and he WOKE ME UP TO TALK TO ME. I mean it. I was out to the count at one stage and he woke me to tell me we were an hour and a half to Abu Dabi and coffee was coming soon! If he wasn't over 80 I would have been very rude to him. At least the Irish girl I sat to on the last 8 hours to London was much quieter!

London is as I remember it. Green, cold and overcast but with a constant heart beat. The hostel I'm staying is in central London and walking around this afternoon I found myself in a very posh bit - Harley Street and Marlebone High Street. Expected to see Fergie or Di visiting their Dr specialists... 2 bedroom flats rent here for over GBP1000 a week! Some lovely central parks surrounded by terrace houses, professional suites and expensive hotels. Everything well maintained around here. Reminds me a bit of Kensington.

Off to Warsaw on the train tomorrow. Once I get there will get the phone sorted, so I can stay in immediate touch.

The eyes say it all...
