The hole in the wall
I love watching people... As I walked down a stretch of path lined on both sides by naked male bronze statues I watched a male couple taking silly photos of themselves and these statues. The sort of thing people do all the time when on holiday. You know the sort... The one that caused a stir was of one guy cupping in his hand the very small endowment of one of the statues. However, the obviously Central European heterosexual couple who walked by them as they took the shot were a sight to behold. The emotions that flew across their faces and between them - horror, disgust, anger, shock - it was all I could do to keep a straight face :) I know displaying your homosexuality is a no-no here but Prague is pretty westernised and I would have thought used to pranks like this even from heterosexual couples. Part of the hilarilty to me was the non conformist nature of the local couple. He was at least 15 years older than his girlfriend and she was well under 20...
Some of the statues that caused the disgust
I witnessed some other fun too... A group of three local boys about MacLean's age were dredging the fountains for money. They had large magnets tied on string and were collecting quite a pocket full of change. The park keepers got onto them and tried to stop them The kids were giving cheek and of course were much faster at running away and had fished money out of another fountain before the park keep could catch up - on it went - around the park.
The park keeper works out what the boys are up to...
